Facts
Adoption @ Mar, 1953, With from adoptive Mum and Dad from a couple of months old, but the adoption was not finalised until March of the following year., Shaftesbury, Dorset
Religion @ -, Raised as 'Church of England', but after a lapse of many years started attending Silver Street Baptist Church in Taunton, where I married my second wife. Met my third wife through a Christian Singles group, married her at a Methodist Chapel. Now been God-Free for many years and happier for it. I'm not such much 'atheist' as 'anti-religion', because I think that overall religion does more harm than good... with the exception of Buddhism, which I'd choose if the right wingers made religion mandatory... which probably isn't actually all that far-fetched a possibility, if they ever get their way., -

Roux Chacín
About Roux Chacín

I am the son of Audrey Clelford-Phillips (28/09/31-21/03/76). I was conceived in August-September 1951. My mother was 19 yrs old at the time. My father’s identity is unknown.

My Y Chromosome DNA analysis shows that my and his (and all my male ancestors) haplogroup is J1, with the Cohanim Modal Halotype (CMH) which some Genealogists believe shows direct patrilineal descent from Aaron the brother of Moses. This is actually only true for a very few J1s, because J1 and CMH are much older than Aaron and only a small percentage of Jews carry the CMH gene sequence.  I also have 22/22 at YCA11a/YCA11b (possibly North African) and some old Arab markers, all of which indicates I am probably Carthaginian (Phoenician).

My father\'s ancestors may have migrated hundreds of years ago, either:

  • through the Latin countries, then possibly on to South America and then into the southern states of North America (California, Texas, Florida, etc). If so then he may have been a US Serviceman stationed near my mother’s home in Little Cheverell, Devizes, Wiltshire, England. Alternatively,
  • by sailing to the UK in ancient times, for instance, the Phoenicians traded along the coast of Britain.  In this case he is from one of a handful of British J1 lines, one such line is descended from Phoenicians who helped build Hadrians Wall.  Most of the people of this lineage would not be aware of their distant ancestry.

My nearest match at Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation is with the Chacin family from Venezuela, but this is not conclusive proof that I am even Latin.

My mother had brown eyes, but my eyes are blue... blue is recessive, meaning my Grandfather, or Great Grandfather, may have had blue eyes. However, it might mean my father\'s eyes were blue; about 10% of Latins have blue eyes, a small percentage of Jews are blue-eyed... and blue eyes are fairly common in Poland and Germany... but J1s are not common there. There again, I am  not common and I am here!

There are a couple of photos of me at a similar age to the age my father would have been in 1951 on this site and on this webpage -

http://rouxrenard.com/gallery1b.htm

Also there are pictures of my birth mother at -

http://rouxrenard.com/gallery3.htm

If you know who my father may have been please contact me, or if you have advice on things such as how to find lists of US servicemen who were in Wiltshire UK in 1951.

Can you help me work out from my DNA if I am Latino, Italian, British J1, Phoenician, Martian???

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Cousin Noah, Great to talk to you! I agree the roots are further East. How far do we take it back? Currently I am think my father was British from an OLD J1e founder - a trader, explorer from Carthage, or slave brought to the UK by the Crusaders. OR an American Airman (Askenazim?) or Polish Airman (Askenazim?). Spoilt for choice, really... :-) Keep in touch. Best regards, Cousin RouX

We share 24 of 25 Y-DNA markers, that comparison feature is new (I think). Look further east than Carthage bro

Having thought quite a lot about this and consulted with leading genetics profs at McGill.... Maybe you have a Hebrew link. J1 + CMH + your location in the recent past all seem to point to a Jewish branch on the Y axis of your tree.

Thanks for the tip about SMGF, very good site. Paternally we are probably cousins, FYI, and since we have the same situation, i wonder how you know your paternal ancestry is from the UK. Happy holidays and good wishes to all your family. Hope you find what you\\'re looking for in the coming year.

Hey RouX, hope all is well with you and family, please give them good wishes from this side of the pond. Happy and prosperous New Year !!! Little food for thought, those Latins that aren\\'t native are Spanish for the most part, then add Italian, Portuguese and every other costal town in Western Europe. So, back to square one perhaps. I\\'ve got the same situation you have so don\\'t give up, let me know how it\\'s going, perhaps we can help each other this year, i hope so... wm
